Gifts from Mummy...

My Mumma came home from Brent Cross earlier with a present for me for getting into UCA Epsom. It's like an encyclopedia of fashion designers called '100 Contemporary Fashion Designers'. The photography inside is incredible, not to mention the clothes! I'm looking forward to getting a spare moment when I can sit and properly read it through! :)

Dreams are coming true!...

I found out yesterday that I got into UCA Epsom!! The interview that I had there went really well, they liked my portfolio and I had a laugh with the tutors! Epsom is one of the top five fashion universities of the UK, 98% of their students get into the industry and 50% end up showcasing in London Fashion Week. I am so excited for this year, it seems to be the year that my dreams become a reality!

#WhatIwore to my interview... Vintage white silk shirt with pleated collar from VBoutique, a tan belt, vintage black fur coat, River Island leggings, Aldo brown boots and a fringed leather side bag from a craft market in Ibiza.

Ever growing love for Elie Saab...

The first time I truly noticed the stunning designs of Elie Saab was when Rihanna wore that stunning red sheer gown to the American Music Awards in 2010. Since then my infatuation for his designs have only grown stronger and my heart skipped a beat when I saw his Spring'12 couture collection. The things I would do to wear one of these gowns, even just for a second! Pastel colours were a key trend for his collection, as well as for the season in general, featuring a rainbow palette of cream, pink, peach, mint, yellow and baby blue. The garments are delicate and simple yet sparkly and eye-catching. When modelled they look effortless and weightless, almost floating down the catwalk. Many embellishing techniques were used on the dresses and a variety of necklines were shown throughout the collection, ranging from high necks to deep V necks and long sleeves to off the shoulder to strapless. Each garment is unique in a different way, creating a stunning collection. Congratulations Elie Saab!

Grace...

Thought I would share with you some of the photos from my shoot with Grace. The photoshoot was to show off a denim waterfall skirt that I made in an edgy, unconventional way for my portfolio... so we turned it into a cape! Superhero chic!! The skirt was part of a 3 piece dress; detachable skirt, bodycon dress and detachable, sculpted shoulder strap. The entire outfit was created using recycled denim products last year and the maxi skirt is made from jean legs, inspired by Gary Harvey's Levi gown. Hope you like the images.

Live from la maison de Valentino...

Yesterday I was lucky enough to watch Valentino's live streaming of their breath taking Spring 12 couture collection. As the finale dress (above) gracefully walked down the runway it was a 'jaw-drop' moment! The lace and sheer white fabric looked stunning and subtly floated as it was modelled. The range was very feminine with a variety of spring trends covered, such as lace, whimsical florals, white on white and pastel colour palettes. Below I have included a few of my personal favourites from the show. Congratulations to the house of Valentino, a truly beautiful collection that epitomises the spring season of 2012.
